Andrew had bone graft hand surgery at the Utah Valley Surgical Center on Thursday, November 8, 2011. He was there for almost 8 hours. It took extra time for him to recover and be able to come home.
Even after surgery, Andrew could still smile for everyone. The nurses were very good to Andrew and he was appreciative of their help.
The doctor gift wrapped his present to Andrew with a bow and a candy cane. Who wants a gift like this?
Andrew is still very tired and sleeps a lot. He has a bed in front of the TV with two youth mattresses to lay on. Live is good (at least relatively).
They placed the screw inside the scaphoid bone so Andrew should not be able to ever feel it. However, I do not understand how one screw can turn two directions at once and cinch the bone together along with the bone graft. Can anyone explain this to me?
I think Andrew and the metal detectors at the airport will become friends. I imagine that is how it is for Brandt.
Thank you again for your prayers and support in behalf of Andrew. We pray that he will continue to heal and regain the full use of his hand. We love you all.
